Felicia Quilantang-Rowley

FELICIA QUILANTANG-ROWLEY

TRACK & FIELD, BASKETBALL, VOLLEYBALL, SOFTBALL, COACHING

Felicia was born in Stockton in 1957. From the age of five in 1962 until 1975 she competed for the St. George’s track club as a long/triple jumper and middle distance runner. She competed in the Junior Olym-pics six times.

She competed and lettered in volleyball, basketball, and tennis at Franklin High School. She was named Female Athlete of the Year at Franklin in 1975.

Felicia enrolled at University of the Pacific and played one year of basketball.

In 1978-79 she began competing on the NORCAL AAU long distance running circuit, winning six races in a row. She recorded 39 min. in a 10K (6.2 mile) race and a 5:15 mile. She graduated from UOP in 1979.

At the age of 20 in 1978 Felicia also began a coaching career which would take her to East Union, Franklin, Stagg, and St. Mary’s High Schools and continues to this day, 44 years later. At the high school level she has coached basketball, volleyball, boys and girls cross country, track and field, and badminton.

From 1994-97 she served as women’s cross country coach at University of the Pacific.

She was the founding director of the Stockton Mavericks AAU basketball club from 1997-02.

In 1998, Felicia began coaching at St. Mary’s High School. She coached the Girls’ Track and Field teams from 1998-2007. From 1998 to the present she has been the Head Boys and Girls Cross Country Coach. She has had six league championship teams and State Meet qualifiers in five years. At a school of 800 she regularly has 80 or more runners on her cross county teams and 40-plus competing in boys’ and girls’ badminton teams. She has coached cross country from 1998 to the present. This is a testament to the positive atmosphere she has created in her coaching.

In 2008, Felicia was named the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) San Joaquin Model Coach of the Year. In 2017, she was inducted into the St. Mary’s High School Hall of Fame. In 2018, her boys’ and girls’ team had the highest G.P.A. in the Sac-Joaquin Section.

Felicia and her husband, Ross, have one son, Brandon, born in 1985, who spent much of his time with Felicia as he accompanied her to all practices and competitions.
