Scott Oliver was born in Vancouver, British Columbia 
in 1962. He came to Stockton three years later and 
attended local schools and was a tremendous athlete 
at Lincoln High School, graduating in 1980. Scott played 
four years of varsity soccer lettering all of those years. 
He was all-conference his junior and senior years in 
the SJAA. Scott also found time to letter all four years on the golf team playing #1 for his 
junior and senior years. He attended San Joaquin Delta Community College and played golf 
playing #1 in 1987. He graduated from University of the Pacific in 1989.
Scott began playing racquetball in the mid-1970’s and quickly became one of the top 
junior players in the United States. In 1980 when only 17 years old, he placed 1st in the Men’s 
Open singles/doubles championships at Napa and also Open singles championships in 
Reno, Nevada. Between 1980-1986, Scott won over 50 singles and doubles titles sponsored 
by the California Racquetball Association.
In 1980-1981 Scott joined the professional racquetball tour and played seven seasons. In 
1984 he was ranked as the 8th best player in the world. He spent three of his seven seasons 
as one of the top 10 players in the world. He made six professional tier one event finals during 
his seven seasons.
He had an important part in the development of racquetball in Stockton at Quail Lakes 
Athletic Club and West Lane Racquet Club. He worked with junior development in the 1980’s 
at both clubs.
His professional competition record was 52-38 (.578 winning percentage). He participated 
in 38 tier-one Professional Racquetball tournaments. He participated in six finals and three 
years was ranked in the top 10 in the world.
After racquetball, he began coaching in the Galt School District. Scott coached the 
traveling league baseball. Scott also coached varsity baseball at Liberty Ranch High School 
in 2013 and J.V. basketball. He also coached traveling soccer in the Northern California area.
Scott played in the adult baseball leagues in the Stockton area from 1991-2010. In the 
National Adult Baseball Association (NABA) tournaments, his teams won the California State 
Championships in 1996 & 1997. He played in the NABA World Series Tournament in Phoenix in 
1994, 1997 and 2000.
Scott continues as a P.A. announcer at Liberty Ranch High School in Galt and is very active 
in golf, winning the senior championships at Woodbridge Country Club in 2022. 
Scott and his wife, Darla, raised three children (Sydney, Jake and Max).
