Tony played on the Edison HS football team (1977-80) and was co-captain. He was McDonald’s Athlete of the Week in November 1980.
He was the varsity Co-Captain in baseball from 1979-81 and was the Record Prep Player of the Year in 1981. He also participated in freshman basketball and varsity wrestling in the ’79-80 season.
After high school, Tony played for the Stockton Lightning Bugs baseball club and in the Sacramento Rural league from 1980-84.
As a bowler, he bowled 28 perfect games of 300 and 30 times had an 800 series with a high series of 877. He participated in and won many local tournaments and also won over $30,000 as a professional bowler for four years.
Tony was inducted into the Stockton Mexican Sports Hall of Fame in 2014 for bowling. He owned a pro bowling shop and designed and manufactured bowling balls from 2004 to 2017. He also volunteered time for clinics, Pro-Ams, and many other events.
Tony passed away in 2017.
