TIFFANY A. BANKS
H.S. TRACK COACH, TRACK STARTER
Tiffany A. Banks was born and attended schools in Richardson, Texas. Her mother suggested she take up track and field for something to do at the age of six.
Later, she competed as a heptathlete (an athlete who competes in seven track events) at Northwestern State University in Louisiana.
She coached track at Trinity University and at University of Texas at San Antonio.
In 2003, Tiffany came to Stockton to be a teacher at Stagg High School. She was the head track coach at Bear Creek High School from 2004-06. From 2007-11 she was the assistant track coach at St. Mary’s High School.
In 1996, Tiffany started track meets at AAU events. She advanced to a starting for the Texas Relays from 2006-11 and the Big 12 Conference Championship meet in 2003. From Stockton she continued to start track meets across the United States, such as the Texas Relays, NCAA Division I Western Regionals, and the NCAA Division I national meet.
In 2004, she started the California C.I.F. State High School Track Championships and the Sacramento Meet of Champions.
She has continued to annually start track meets locally and nationally, including the Olympic Trials in Oregon in 2012.
She is a USATF Certified Official and has helped train new officials. Her specialties as an official are in the high jump, long jump, and meet starter. She has been the start crew coordinator who sets assignments for starters at the bigger meets and serves as the liaison between the officials, timers, and meet management to keep the events running smoothly.
